Our Year 3 students have been delving into the rich world of figurative language through the beautifully written verse novel Bindi by Kirli Saunders. As they journey through the story, students have been learning to identify and interpret similes, metaphors, personification that bring the text to life.
Through class discussions and creative activities, students are developing a deeper appreciation for how language can paint vivid pictures, evoke emotions, and express complex ideas.
Winter Soiree
I am thrilled to share that our Winter Soirée last night was an incredible success with over 60 students participating. It was heartwarming to see so many of our families, staff and students come together to celebrate the spirit of our school community. The evening was filled with amazement, joy and a true appreciation for the arts showcased by our talented students.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge our talented students who worked tirelessly in preparation for the performances. Your hard work and creativity shone brightly and it was a delight to see you share the evening with us all. A special thank you goes out to our incredible music conductors and tutors. Your dedication, expertise, and passion for music inspired our students to reach new heights. We are grateful for the time and effort you invested in nurturing their talents and it truly showed in their performances.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers and staff who went above and beyond every day to support our students. Your commitment and passion makes our school a truly special place. Additionally, a big thank you to our school leaders for hosting the evening's events.

Trees for Tomorrow: Teaming Up for a Thriving Environment!
I am thrilled to share that yesterday we planted a Baby Magnolia tree outside our hall! This beautiful addition not only enhances the charm of our school but also reflects our commitment to creating a greener environment. I am proud to say that this tree was purchased using the funds raised from our recent Green Day gold coin fundraiser—thank you to everyone who contributed!
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our young green thumbs who eagerly volunteered to help with the planting. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the event a joyful and memorable experience. It was inspiring to see our students engage with nature and take part in improving our school grounds.

Debating
The Seniors Debating Team travelled and debated against Double Bay. The topic was “That children under the age of 12 should be given screen time for doing chores.” We won the debate and some of the feedback we received was that we had well structured arguments and good examples.
The Junior Debating Team also competed against Double Bay and their topic was “That screens should replace textbooks and worksheets.” The adjudicator who watched the debate on line awarded the Glenmore students the victory.

A Message from Rhe
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to GRPS and the wider community for their generous and kind support during my time at The Cottage. It has been a truly special experience, made even more meaningful by such a wonderful group of families. I hope the unique spirit of The Cottage continues to thrive and has every confidence that Karla and the team will keep providing a safe, joyful, and uplifting environment for the children.
Expanding Crafty Skills
While melting beads and colouring remain beloved favourites at Cottage, we’re keen to broaden the creative horizons for our young artists! We’re introducing new craft experiences to build on their skills and spark fresh inspiration. This week, the children explored mask-making and tried weaving ribbon-framed cards - both big hits! We’re excited to keep adding to their creative toolkit. We’d also like to take a moment to thank our wonderful community for the ongoing donations of craft supplies. Your generosity helps us keep the options varied, while we teach the kids about finding new uses for old materials!
VC Generate Rate Bookings
General Rate bookings close 29 June! Secure your bookings before Short Notice rates kick in. Please keep in mind that we are fully booked out for the first day of Vacation Care, 7 July, but you can email to be put on a Waitlist. All other days have spots left but are filling up!
