Celebrating World Teachers’ Day – Hats Off to Teachers
As we prepare to celebrate World Teachers’ Day this Friday, we warmly invite all students to join in the fun by wearing hats to school. This year’s theme is 'Hats Off to Teachers,' a special way for us to show appreciation for the dedication and hard work of our wonderful teaching staff.
Why ‘Hats Off’ to Teachers?
The phrase ‘hats off’ has a rich history of expressing respect, admiration, and congratulations. It dates back to medieval times when knights would remove their helmets as a sign of respect. Today, even if you’re not wearing a hat, saying ‘hats off’ is a way to honour and celebrate achievements. So, hats off to you for learning about the meaning behind ‘hats off’— and hats off to all our teachers for their incredible dedication!
Let’s come together to celebrate and say thank you to the teachers who inspire and support us every day.
Kindy 2026 Transition Update
We are delighted to share that our first two Kindergarten 2026 transition sessions, held over the past two Tuesdays, have been a great success! There’s just one more transition session scheduled for next Tuesday, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our future students once again.
If you haven’t yet enroled your child for Kindergarten 2026, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible to ensure your place in our wonderful school community. Please contact the school office for enrolment information or assistance.
We look forward to welcoming all our new students and families!
Important Reminder: Student Supervision Before and After School
I would like to kindly remind everyone that student supervision at our school begins promptly at 9:00am each morning. For the safety and wellbeing of all children, students should not be on-site before 9:00am unless they are under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
Additionally, if your child wishes to remain on-site after school hours, it is important that they are actively supervised by a parent or responsible adult. This helps us ensure a safe environment for all students at all times.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
Qualified Maintenance Help Needed for Rainforest Deck
We are currently seeking a qualified individual, such as a builder or someone with relevant trade qualifications, to assist with general business maintenance related to the deck in the rainforest area of our school. If you have the appropriate professional qualifications and experience, please reach out to me via the school email (glenmorerd-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au). It is important that the person who assists is suitably qualified to ensure the job is completed safely and effectively.
Thank you for your support in helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our students.

Our Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Our Grandparents and Special Friends Day, held last Monday, was a wonderful event. We were delighted to welcome our grandparents and special friends to the school to celebrate the valued role they play in our students’ lives and to share in the joy of learning together. The day was filled with laughter, connection, and special memories as our school community came together across generations.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this day so meaningful!

Halloween Fun at Cottage
Just a few more sleeps till Halloween! We hope everybody is ready for a night of fright and fun!
For those with bookings at Cottage on Halloween, we’ve got a fun-filled day of games, treats, and craft activities planned to celebrate the spooky season so no one will be left out.
Don’t have a booking? Trick-or-Treaters are welcome to stop by our gate on Cambridge Street for a fun treat and to show off all the cool costumes!
XAP Feedback
We are currently looking at alternative childcare management systems as we would really love to be able to share photos, videos and observations of your children and what they get up to at Cottage, with you. This will give you more visibility into what we do day-to-day and continue making the Cottage as child safe as possible.
We also want to make sure that the platform we use at Cottage is easy for families to navigate, make bookings, mark your child absent, pay fees etc.
Please feel free to share your comments or feedback about Xap and any suggestions you may have to our email admin@thecottageoshc.org.
We very much value your input and want to make sure all families voices are heard when it comes to a big change like this.
Prom Night – What a Night!
Our Prom Night Disco fundraiser was an absolute hit — the costumes were spectacular, the music was spot-on, the dance moves legendary, and the energy electric!
A massive shout-out to our incredibly talented and dedicated fundraising team — Mirella, Emma, and Jodie. Without their endless hours of planning, creativity, and enthusiasm, events like these simply wouldn’t happen. If you see them around the school, please take a moment to say thank you — they truly are amazing and a huge asset to our school community!
Plus, a big thank you to Matthew E for his spectacular MCing on the night. The decorations were extraordinary so thank you to all those who helped set up and decorate - Sadie, Molly, Tessa, Evie, Aleesha, Char, Helena, Ian B and Lee. Thank you to the team who helped secure our many auction items: Prue E our queen auction-item organiser, plus Jo H, Sarah N, Mina R and Eliza.
And of course, thank-you to all the amazing businesses, individuals and families who donated their goods and services for our auction. Generosity like this makes a real difference — every single dollar raised goes straight back into supporting our school and our kids. We're grateful for the support of our local community so in no particular order, thank you to:

GRPS Shines at the NSW Interschools Ski Races!
In July, a team of two enthusiastic skiers represented GRPS at the 2025 NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships in Thredbo. Over a week of exciting races, changing conditions, and plenty of cheering, Adelaide T and Tilly O'D showed incredible growth, teamwork, and school spirit.
The Glenmore team took part in two events, Alpine and Skier Cross, with several other events on offer it was an awesome week. For many, it was their first experience racing on snow, and the improvement across the week was fantastic to watch. Each day brought new confidence and stronger performances as Adelaide and Tilly improved and supported one another from the sidelines. By the end of the week, GRPS had not only achieved some great results but also built memories that will last a lifetime.
We’re already looking ahead to next year’s Interschools races, which will take place at Perisher 14-17 July 2026 — and we’d love to see even more Glenmore Road students involved! The school’s snowsports program welcomes beginners through to experienced skiers and snowboarders. If your child is interested in joining the team for 2026, keep an eye out for information next year, or contact Renata Das (1P parent).
