Thank You for a Successful P&C Meeting
Our recent P&C meeting on Monday evening was a fantastic success, with a remarkable turnout of engaged parents and community members. We had a productive discussion about a range of exciting initiatives aimed at enhancing the educational experience for our students at GRPS. Among the motions passed were important advancements in technology, the acquisition of new literacy resources, and the expansion of creative arts programs.
A heartfelt thank you to all members who contributed their ideas and support. Your commitment is invaluable, and we appreciate the positive impact you are making in our school community. Together, we are creating a brighter future for our children. Thank you!
P&C Mothers and Significant Others Day
We are thrilled to invite our school community to join us in celebrating Mothers and Significant Others Day this Friday, 9 May in the school hall from 7:30-9:00am. This special event, hosted by our P&C, is a wonderful opportunity to honour the incredible women and significant figures in our lives. We look forward to seeing you there! Further information is available in the P&C section that follows.
Winter PSSA Starting for Term 2
This is a friendly reminder that our netball, soccer, and rugby teams will commence PSSA sport this Friday, 9 May. We eagerly anticipate seeing our students excel on the field as they represent our school with pride. Let us all come together to support and cheer them on! For further details, please refer to the Sports section of the newsletter below.
Reports - Semester 1
As we move to SchoolBytes, we want to let you know that reports will not be printed this year. Instead, they will be emailed to parents and available through the School Bytes app. We encourage all parents to download the app and turn on notifications to easily access reports and future documents. If there are different households that need to receive reports, please make sure that both parents have the app installed.
Attendance Matters: A Key to Success
The evidence is clear: consistent attendance is the essential first step for your child to have a positive experience at school. Every day matters for your child’s learning. In recent years, I’ve seen too many students miss a day of school here and there, which can significantly impact their educational journey. Missing school means missing assignments, valuable time with friends, important lessons in subjects like maths, or opportunities to be part of a sports team. With days missed, years of learning can be lost.
Students are required to attend school every day, whether it’s the first or last day of the term, or days dedicated to sports carnivals, school excursions, and incursions. Regular attendance is vital in helping your child achieve their best and stay ahead in their learning. Together, let’s work on building positive attendance habits for a lifetime.
If your child is absent from school, please let us know the reason as soon as possible, even if it’s just a few minutes at the start or end of the school day. Of course, there will be times when your child is unable to attend school, such as when they are unwell. We encourage medical appointments to be scheduled outside of school hours whenever possible, and family holidays should ideally take place during term breaks.
If your child is feeling anxious about coming to school and you need support, please reach out to your child’s teacher or me directly. Our staff are here to work with you and your child to help them attend school each and every day.
Thank you for your continued partnership with our teachers and support staff to ensure your child is at school, on time, every day. We all want to see our students learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging in our equitable and outstanding education system.
We are thrilled to announce that Wakakirri rehearsals began this morning, and it was a tremendous success! A big thank you to all the students who arrived on time and engaged wholeheartedly in the process. We would also like to express our gratitude to the teachers for dedicating their time and effort to provide this wonderful opportunity for our students. We look forward to seeing everyone’s hard work come to life!
We are excited to announce that on Friday, 16 May, our school will participate in Walk Safely to School Day! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage in healthy habits and promote road safety.
Students who walk to school will be greeted at the gate by our SRC members from 9:00am, and will receive a special Walk Safely to School tattoo and a piece of fruit to celebrate their healthy start to the day.
If walking all the way from home isn't possible, we encourage families to park a few streets away and walk the remainder of the way to school together.
Let’s make this day a fun and active celebration!

Parent Surveys – Coming Soon
We’ll be sending out two short surveys by email soon, so keep an eye on your inbox!
- Kindy Parent Survey – for families with children currently in Kindy.
- Autumn Vacation Care Feedback Survey – to hear your thoughts on our holiday program.
If one (or both) apply to you, we’d love for you to take a few minutes to fill them out. Your input helps us build the Cottage we all want to be part of.
Greenhouse + Gardening Project
We are thrilled to see the children’s hard work paying off! Their plants have been growing beautifully, and we’re now exploring ways to expand this area and activity to give them even more chances to nurture and explore.
If you have any suggestions or would like to be involved, we would love to hear from you!
