I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Year 1 parents and the P&C for hosting the Welcome BBQ last Friday night. It was truly a fantastic evening, filled with laughter and friendship, and it was wonderful to see so many families come together. The strong sense of community was evident, and it’s moments like these that remind us of the supportive environment we have here at our school.
Thank you to everyone for making this event such a success!
Communication
I am excited to announce that our school has decided to consolidate our three current platforms into a single, streamlined solution: School Bytes. This decision comes as part of our commitment to enhancing communication and improving the overall experience for our students, parents, and staff. By utilising School Bytes, we aim to simplify processes and ensure that everyone has easy access to important information in one convenient location. We appreciate your support as we transition to this new platform, and we believe it will significantly benefit our school community. More information will be provided in the coming weeks, including details on how to access and navigate School Bytes, so please stay tuned!
Wakakirri Auditions – A Fantastic Turnout!
What an incredible start to our Wakakirri journey this year! Auditions at Glenmore Road were a huge success, with an amazing turnout from our talented students. As always, our school community rallied around the arts, showing their passion, support, and deep respect for dance and Wakakirri storytelling.
We are beyond excited to showcase a new and improved level at Wakakirri this year, with our young budding artists bringing their energy, creativity, and dedication to the stage. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring our story to life—this is a performance you won’t want to miss!
Year 1-6 High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE)
I would like to remind you about the Year 1-6 High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) form (link below) that is currently available for completion. If you have not yet had the opportunity to fill out this important form, we invite you to do so by clicking here at your earliest convenience.
The insights you provide are invaluable to our HPGE committee as we review the data to inform our future planning. This is a great opportunity to share your observations regarding your child's specific talents and areas of potential, which will help us in supporting their unique abilities.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support!
Photo day is THURSDAY, 10 April! Payments this year are on line only.
Please remind your child to look neat and tidy on photo day and to be wearing the correct school uniform.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Playground Rewards
Congratulations to 3/4N. For the second week in a row they have been the class winners of the Year 3-6 PBL morning lines competition. They have been demonstrating responsible and respectful behaviour in lines and have all been wearing their hats. Well done 3/4N, we hope you enjoyed your picnic lunch.

REPEAT MESSAGES & REMINDERS:
Easter Hat & Pedlars Parade - Tuesday 8 April
Kindy – Year 2 Easter Hat Parade: Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be having an Easter Hat Parade. The students will be making their hats at home and will bring them to school to wear on the day of the parade. The hats can be made from a wide range of materials. Discount stores, Spotlight and art and craft stores are a good starting point to find items. Please remember however this is some Easter fun, not a competition. Students can wear mufti on the day of the Easter Hat Parade.
Year 3 - Year 6 Pedlars Parade: Students in Years 3-6 will be having a Pedlars Parade. A Pedlars Parade is a traditional way of raising funds and having fun. The students make things to sell at school for Easter. They dress-up as a ‘pedlar’ and parade their goods and then sell them to each other. The money raised will go towards school resources. We encourage children to use creativity and initiative to make items such as individually wrapped treats, stationery supplies, small toys etc - about 6-8 is a good number. Please remember that we have a number of students with food allergies and therefore we ask you not to send in food products with nuts. Students can wear mufti on the day of the Pedlars Parade. If you do not want your child to participate in the Pedlars Parade please notify your child’s class teacher.
Students from K-6 can bring money on the day (no more than $5 please) and purchase tickets to buy items from the Pedlars. Each item is sold for $1 or $2, as the Pedlars decide.

Cottage OSHC Joins GRPS P&C
We’re excited to share that Cottage OSHC is now officially part of the GRPS P&C! While this brings a little more involvement from the P&C, Cottage will continue operating as usual with its own sub-committee. Parents previously in the Cottage Association are now P&C general members, and termly Cottage meetings will continue—everyone is welcome!
A big thank you to the parents who joined the Committees to keep Cottage a non-profit, community-run service. Your support is invaluable! We encourage all parents to share their ideas and feedback to help shape our service.
For any questions, feel free to reach out. Thank you for your support!
Autumn Vacation Care
We can’t believe we are less than two weeks away from the first break of the term!
For our HOYTS Movie Excursion on 23 April, we’ll be conducting a student-run opinion poll on what blockbuster we should see! Will it be Minecraft? Looney Tunes? Dogman? Place your bets!
Our Ultimate Sydney Centre Excursion happening on 14 April has officially filled up! A waitlist has started, so get in touch if you would like to be informed if a spot opens!
Senior Hyper Karting Excursion (14/04) will be full soon as well. The Toronga Zoo Excursion still has plenty of space left! However, we recommend booking in soon to avoid Short Notice rates!
This is just a reminder to all booked into excursion dates that a permission form (or 2) will need to be signed – so keep an eye out on your emails!
Alongside our exciting excursions, we’re wrapping up the holidays with NERF MANIA—a cross-age team battle where kids build forts, strategise, and compete to be the last ones standing! If the weather looks hot, we’ll kick off the game earlier, around 10:00–10:30 AM (about an hour earlier than usual). Please keep this in mind when planning your arrival at the Cottage. We can’t wait for an action-packed day!
Our famed Apocalypse Day is also gaining numbers! Don’t be intimidated by the name – it is just a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig game of build-up tip, but zombie themed! Kindies will have their own super qualified senior bodyguard to guide them through the game, and rewards will be given for best Zombie and last survivor.
