What a wonderful week we’ve had!
Neurodiversity Celebration Week
This week we acknowledged Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a worldwide initiative dedicated to challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Throughout the week, we will engage in activities and discussions that promote understanding and inclusivity, creating a supportive environment for all students. As part of neuro diversity week, Mrs Klein will be reading and discussing the theme of ‘differences’ through reading various quality picture books with a focus on imagination, creativity and different ways of thinking. This week provides a valuable opportunity for our school community to celebrate differences and empower every individual, fostering a culture of acceptance and respect.
NAPLAN
On Wednesday, we kicked off the NAPLAN testing period for our Year 3 and 5 students. NAPLAN (the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy). Congratulations to all our NAPLAN students! We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication in preparing for these assessments. Your commitment to doing your best is commendable, and we celebrate the effort you put into your studies. Remember, this is just one step in your learning journey, and we are excited to see all the wonderful things you will achieve in the future! Keep up the great work!
3-Way Conferences
We invite all families to schedule a booking with their child's classroom teacher for our upcoming 3-way conferences. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to share information and insights between home and school, fostering a collaborative environment to support your child's learning and development.
We kindly ask that you complete the following questions to help us prepare for our upcoming three-way conferences starting next week. Your responses will allow us to make the most of our time together, focusing on key highlights, concerns, or questions you may have. Rest assured, all answers are confidential and will only be reviewed by your child's classroom teacher.
Please click here to complete the survey.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to fostering strong connections between families and our teachers!

Student Work
I had the privilege of seeing some wonderful work from our students this week.

4W - “The Thing About Oliver”
Year 4 students have been reading the book “The Thing About Oliver”. The book tells the story of 12-year-old Tilly, who dreams of becoming a marine scientist, but lives in a drought-stricken town with her autistic brother Oliver, whose needs and meltdowns make life difficult for everyone. When the family moves to the Queensland coast, Tilly is excited about the possibility of learning to swim and snorkeling, but worried about how Oliver will cope with the changes.

Allegra Spender - Junior School Leadership Forum
Yesterday the school captains went to meet Allegra Spender at the Double Bay Library to talk about what it means to be a leader. Allegra told us how she got into politics and some tips on how to be a great leader. She asked us what we want to improve about the community and things we liked. It was a rewarding experience.

This is going to grow into a lovely wildflower patch for everyone to enjoy. We hope in a couple of weeks these seedlings will grow into a lovely garden!

NAPLAN is an annual assessment for year 3,5,7 and 9 students that measures students' skills in reading, writing, language conventions, and numeracy. It provides valuable insights into their progress and helps identify areas for further development. This year, our Year 3 students have demonstrated great resilience and adaptability in their NAPLAN assessments, with three out of the four tests being completed on a laptop.
Their growing confidence in using digital tools has been evident, and they should feel incredibly proud of their efforts.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Playground Rewards
Congratulations to 4W who were the first class to be chosen for outstanding responsible and respectful behaviour at morning lines. They earned the privilege of eating their lunch together at the picnic tables. Well done!
Every day at the Year 3-6 morning assemblies the teachers are taking note of each class and their behaviour. A tally is kept and the class with the most points at the end of the week, earn this privilege.

REPEAT MESSAGES & REMINDERS:
Easter Hat & Pedlars Parade - Tuesday 8 April
Kindy – Year 2 Easter Hat Parade: Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be having an Easter Hat Parade. The students will be making their hats at home and will bring them to school to wear on the day of the parade. The hats can be made from a wide range of materials. Discount stores, Spotlight and art and craft stores are a good starting point to find items. Please remember however this is some Easter fun, not a competition. Students can wear mufti on the day of the Easter Hat Parade.
Year 3 - Year 6 Pedlars Parade: Students in Years 3-6 will be having a Pedlars Parade. A Pedlars Parade is a traditional way of raising funds and having fun. The students make things to sell at school for Easter. They dress-up as a ‘pedlar’ and parade their goods and then sell them to each other. The money raised will go towards school resources. We encourage children to use creativity and initiative to make items such as individually wrapped treats, stationery supplies, small toys etc - about 6-8 is a good number. Please remember that we have a number of students with food allergies and therefore we ask you not to send in food products with nuts. Students can wear mufti on the day of the Pedlars Parade. If you do not want your child to participate in the Pedlars Parade please notify your child’s class teacher.
Students from K-6 can bring money on the day (no more than $5 please) and purchase tickets to buy items from the Pedlars. Each item is sold for $1 or $2, as the Pedlars decide.
Photo Day - Thursday 10 April
Photo day is not far away! Payments this year are on line only.

Surfing
On a hot Autumn morning the sun was shining and the sky was blue, and the Year 6 surfers went to Bondi. The surf was very small so we competed in boogie boarding relays in the water. We switched mid way through the lesson. The other group did bodyboarding on the surf boards.
